We are so grateful when good people step forward with the impulse to help our cause.
We are currently in the midst of our giving drive: A Candy Box of a Different Kind. This is a very exciting opportunity!
This season, The Brain Candy Project invites people to raise money to sponsor a Candy Box, which is our comfort kit for parents as they are living for days, weeks, or even months in the hospital with their critically ill child.
Our goal is to start delivering Candy Boxes to parents at the University of MN Children's Hospital, Fairview, in Minneapolis, MN. Small goal, big rewards.
Good Things Come in Boxes!
Our Candy Box includes: toiletries & grooming supplies, aroma therapeutic teas, good chocolate, a cozy hooded sweatshirt, an MP3 player, fresh water, soft towels, soft toilet paper, soothing eye mask and other soothing spa items, hand lotion, lip balm, and more! We strive to be a green company, so the items we choose are as earth-friendly as possible.
Have you ever slept in a hospital "bed-chair," cot, bench or hospital room floor? Many parents are doing so tonight, and will be living in the hospital over the holidays, as I did with my son. Each Candy Box is accompanied by a quality air mattress & bedding, so a parent can can get a decent night's sleep.
Until we find full sponsorship for these special boxes, it costs about $500 to produce a Candy Box for a family in need. 20 people you know could each contribute a mere $25 to sponsor a box together. Family, friends, co-workers, church and community groups, book clubs, Red Hats, sports moms, Daddy & Me groups... All it takes is one person to coordinate the magic 20, collect $25 from each person, and send the money in. Brain Candy volunteers will do the rest. These are tax-deductible donations, so individuals may wish to donate separately as well.
Box donations can be made securely online here, on
our FaceBook cause page, or mailed by check (with "Candy Box" written on the memo
Thank you again for your generous support of The Brain Candy Project. We wish you and yours all the heart the season can bring.
